I'm writing this with a heavy heart. I'm not sure I'm happy with my group's business pitch that we did on yesterday :-( We honestly had a brilliant idea and thought we conveyed it well. The assessors said it was a nice idea but it needs work. I was a bit upset but I know constructive criticism when I see it! We just need to  go through our idea and find those loop holes. Nothing will ever make me so down I can't pick myself up. I'll be entering a world where people gave up a dream because someones said no or told them they're not good enough. I'll be danged if I'll end up such a person. School is too hard and too much money has been spent to get me to this point. Plus I have people who believe in Suelan and that includes Suelan herself :-)

So we all know Steve Jobs, I mean he is the brilliance behind Apple Inc. But there is more to this man than what meets the eye. He was criticized as being unorthodox and a bit of a mishap, YET he is a billionaire because of his refusal to think like others. He used his rebellious nature to breathe life into a dying company. I say this for others like me to understand that while there will always be someone out there coining a definition and drafting the characteristics of an entrepreneur- the essence of an entrepreneur can never be fit into a box! You (or me) can change all those definitions is we just choose to dream and work to make such dreams a reality! :-)

I don't like to brag and I've really been trying to keep this one in but....my lecturer (for my Entrepreneurial Skills in the Communications Industry course) is THE Gerry McDaniel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *screams*. My granny would tune into his radio show "Palav" on RJR EVERY Sunday for us to listen, she still does. Like rice and peas is a must on for a Jamaican's sunday dinner so was Mr. McDaniel's show. Small world eh? Honestly I'm really grateful  to be bestowed the opportunity to meet one of Jamaica's finest media personalities. My granny was just as pleased when I told her who my lecturer was, in fact her response was "See and yuh always complain bout RJR is for old people." LOL

Been quite some time and for that I apologize folks. School is just a mess! Sue is back though :-) I just want to say that I love family and friends and without them I would have quit school ages ago!

Anyways, my class was basically put in groups and each group has to choose an entrepreneurial themed movie, do a review on the movie and find some awesome way to present the themes of the movie to the class. There are 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes. Guess who's ready to rumble? We're going to do Pirates of Silicon Valley. Tell you all about it when I can.

Do I want to become an entrepreneur?

When I was ten years old I wanted to be a doctor. By the time high school rolled in I was sure I wanted to be a lawyer. When it was time to choose what I was going to study at UWI I was sure media was my place to shine (I still do). Now I am forced to take on the idea that I can be a business woman and a media practitioner. The big question now is-Do I WANT to become an entrepreneur? I studied the Arts and Business in high school (THE "bestest" high school EVER:St. Hugh's High) and as such Suelan is no stranger to the business world.

An entrepreneur create a need and in creating this need fulfill it. Do I have what it takes? Everyone believes he/she has a brilliant mind and God knows my Mommy foots the bill in ensuring that I have a brilliant mind. I'd like to think I'm innovative, a risk-taker and a leader. But who defines who an entrepreneur is? Many people fail to realize that an entrepreneur is someone as simple as a man selling lollipops on the street. It doesn't always take a out-of-the-world idea to be the next big thing. I WANT to be the next big thing. Well whadda ya know? Maybe I do want to become an entrepreneur :-)
